Rev. Telos Whitfield attended Starr King School for Ministry, a member school of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley California, where she received her Master of Divinity in 2006. She previously served two UU congregations for eight years - the Walpole Unitarian Church in New Hampshire and first Universalist Parish in Chester Vermont. Rev. Whitfield has also been deeply involved in supporting the homeless population in her community and participating in numerous vigils and events highlighting social issues and commemorating events.
A follower of the teachings of Jesus and Buddhist peace leader, writer and teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, her theology encompasses a wide span, grounded in an "engaged Buddhism" and active mindfulness, and a deep compassion for people that symbolized who Jesus was. Rev. Whitfield holds dear the idea that ministry is the way we are with each other, the care we take with each other, and the work we do to support those that need us.
A dancer, lover of poetry and people of all ages, she is excited to be serving the Strafford Universalist Society in her paents' home community of South Strafford.
